From NetworkCommands

Image:Cisco-logo-large.gif Image:Extreme-logo-extralarge.gif Image:Vyatta-logo-extralarge.png Image:Bluecoat-logo-large.gif

A command available on most Cisco, Extreme, Vyatta and Blue Coat Proxy SG platforms; used primarily to display the software version number, hardware serial number and normally other useful information on processor, flash and RAM memory. The output changes markedly depending on the device the command is executed on. On Cisco devices this command also displays the device uptime.

Contents

Cisco RAM

The RAM is usually DRAM these days. If two RAM/DRAM figures are shown (on the line starting Cisco xxxx with...') the first figure is for processor memory, the second for packet (or I/O) memory. These memory types can be physically seperate or shared, depending on the platform.
