A command line program available on Linux platforms, including F5 BigIP; used to reboot the device the command is executed on.

Usage Syntax
reboot
Common options include:
- -f - force reboot rather than calling shutdown with appropriate options passed
- -q - quite mode; only display errors
Usage Notes
Unless used with the -f option, this command simply calls the shutdown program
Using the shutdown command directly is preferable as it offers more options and flexibility
To reload or shutdown F5 BigIP LTM services only, use the bigstart command
Device Specifics
On F5 BigIP devices, after installing a hotfix, use the full_box_reboot script to reboot the device rather than this command.
Linux Usage Notes
With most Linux or Unix commands;
- Brief help can be displayed using the option/keyword: -h or --help, for example: chmod --help
- A full command manual can be displayed using the man command followed by the command name, for example: man chmod
- Sometimes 'info' pages are used instead of or to provide more information than man pages; for example: info chmod
- Version information can be display using the option/keyword: -v or --version, for example: chmod --version
Related Commands
You could use the halt and poweroff commands to perform the related functions their names imply but again, using the shutdown command is probably preferable.
