A command available on most Vyatta platforms; used to modify or display the system time and date (the system clock.)

date "120113022008" - set the system date and time to 01 December 2008, 13:02

date ntp 1.2.2.3 - synchronise, once only, the system data and time with the ntp server found at the address 1.2.2.3

The date and time specified must be enclosed within quotation marks.

Only the second [.ss] parameter is optional.

Set the system time zone with the system time-zone command

Set the system to continuously synchronise it's time and date with one or more NTP servers using the system ntp-server command

Use the show host data command to view the current system data and time

The Cisco command equivalent is the clock set command

The Extreme command equivalent is the configure time command
